Gold Standard Outdoors began as a humble basement hobby back in 2011. Ben and Joe Swanson began building custom fishing rods when their neighbor, who taught a rod building club at his high school, started teaching them the very basics. At first, building rods was a struggle and took Ben and Joe a while to get the hang of, but eventually they built a few rods for themselves and soon enough friends and family started wanting a custom rod.
Aside from offering custom rods, Ben and Joe introduced the GSO apparel line in the spring of 2021. Quality hats and shirts added a personal aspect of GSO that friends and family could wear on the water or in the woods. In the spring of 2022 a unique asset was added to the GSO product line. The LaDoink lure cover! This lure cover is one of a kind and like no other product on the market.
From a few single rod orders to now over a few hundred high quality fish catching machines Ben and Joe have been building casting, spinning, fly and ice rods for friends and customers all around North America. This passion of building the perfect rod for novice and avid fishermen drives the “We Set the Standard” mentality.
As a Christian business we strive to uphold the values of integrity, hard work, generosity, dedication and humility. Our faith in God and patriotism to the USA fuel our respect and devotion to the Armed Forces and First Responders.
